Softwood Shavings with nothing new
I have a house Rabbit and 2 cats so I take great care when choosing products to use, esp for litter.
I recently thought about changing the litter I use and so got a few different types to test.
This litter is for my rabbits hutch (sometimes used by the cats when the rabbits roaming the house).
The only redeeming feature of this litter is that it is cheap. I mean it is seriously cheap. At 5p per litre you really have to understand that your not going to get anything special. Also as you would expect the litter is soft to touch and there were no large chucks of wood or shavings so I knew my boy would be fine if he walked on them or ate them.
The shavings have a faint smell of citrus in the bag but that magically disappears when you put it out in the hutch (I was half expecting my house to smell like citrus every time I changed it, which is everyday), the shavings also are not very absorbent (they actually leave the bottom of the tray wet) which means a lingering smell of urine by the end of the day. As my rabbit likes to kick his litter around and with the shavings being soft they would track all over the carpet and easily be thrown around the house.
Great if you have lots of outdoor rabbits or in a shop but personally if you have a rabbit or 3 as a pet (like I do) then I'd personally spend a bit more and get something worth the effort.
