Product description

Tablets for the treatment of flea infestations in cats and small dogs from 4 weeks old weighing 1 - 11kg, with nitenpyram as the active ingredient, for administering with or without food.
CAPSTAR 11.4mg for Cats & Small Dogs are tablets designed to combat flea infestations in cats and small dogs, containing nitenpyram as the active ingredient. This neonicotinoid inhibits the transmission of excitation, which in turn leads to the death of adult fleas.

CAPSTAR 11.4mg for Cats & Small Dogs at a glance:
  • Tablets to combat flea infestations in cats and small dogs weighing 1 - 11 kg over the age of 4 weeks
  • Oral tablets with the active ingredients nitenpyram: to support the treatment of flea infestations
    • Kills fleas (Ctenocephalides felis): effects on fleas can be observed as early as 15 to 30 minutes after administration of the product to the host animal. These occur simultaneously with the fleas' first blood meal after sufficient blood levels have been reached in the host animal. 95 % to 100 % efficacy is observed within the first 6 hours. 100 % efficacy is achieved within 24 hours without residual activity
  • Further information:

Feeding guide

Dosage for each animal species, type and duration of use:

Method of administration:
Tablets to be administered with or without food.

Dosage:
The minimum effect dose is 1mg/kg bodyweight with the following recommendations:
If a flea infestation is detected, cats and small dogs with a body weight between 1kg and 11kg should be given 1 tablet of CAPSTAR 11.4mg. The frequency of treatment depends on the degree of infestation. In severe flea infestations, it may be necessary to treat the animals every day or every other day until the flea infestation is under control. Treatment can be resumed if fleas reappear. No more than one treatment per day should be given.

Instructions for correct use:
To improve palatability, the tablets can be added to a small amount of food.
CAPSTAR has no long-term effect. To prevent re-infestation, appropriate treatment to control immature stages of the flea life cycle is recommended. The treating veterinarian should determine an appropriate treatment programme.

Special warnings
Special precautions for use in animals:
Do not use in animals younger than 4 weeks of age or weighing less than 1kg as these groups of animals have not been studied.

The symptoms disappear quickly and recovery is complete within 24 hours of the overdose due to the rapid elimination of Nitenpyram. No clinically significant treatment-related adverse reactions have been observed with daily dosing for 6 months in cats and dogs.
