Toxins and protein wastes are not fully eliminated, and the kidneys become overloaded. If your dog is suffering from kidney disease it needs a diet that helps to relieve and support the kidneys. Insufficient or low fluid intake combined with a hostile, acidic urinary environment can lead to the formation of bladder stones such as calcium oxalate or uric acid stones. Recommended feeding period:
Energy per kg (ME, FEDIAF 2020): 16.31 MJ / 3.898 kcal
Recommended feeding period:
- Feed initially for a period of up to 6 months to support renal function in chronic renal insufficiency
- Feed for a period of up to 6 months to reduce calcium oxalate
- Feed for a period of up to 6 months to reduce uric acid stone formation
- In the case of irreversible uric acid metabolic disorders this diet can be maintained for the dog's life-time
- Please consult your vet before using this food or extending the feeding period
- This is a complete dog food and should be fed according to the feeding guidelines, however feeding amounts should be adapted depending on your dog's level of activity, age or breed
- The total daily feeding amount should be divided into 2 or more meals per day.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight
- Make sure your dog always has fresh drinking water available

It continues to work
My bitch has been fed this for over 2 years now and my vet says she is still at the diet management only stage and doesn't yet need medication to help her. She is happy and relatively healthy for 15 years old

After being fed this for about 6 months my vet has said my bitches levels have returned to almost normal. My dog enjoys it and I always have a clean bowl unlike some others we have tried.
