Product description

This tasty paste is a supplementary cat food, made with naturally sourced malt and oils to ease the passing of hair and help to prevent the formation of hairballs. No artificial additives, handy tube.

When your cat grooms itself, it uses its tongue like a brush, not only smoothing the fur but also collecting hair. Swallowed hairs can build up in your cat’s stomach and get tangled up into unpleasant hairballs, which are often brought up naturally by the cat, but can also cause uncomfortable digestive problems. In rare cases, hairballs can even lead to a trip to see the vet.

Smilla Malt cat paste contains pure natural malt and oils. The delicious malt paste helps to prevent the hairs from forming hairballs, and supports the natural passage of the swallowed hair and indigestible items through the digestive tract. In giving your cat a daily treat of Smilla Malt paste you are helping to improve its vitality and wellbeing.

Oily mess
Unsure if the malt paste itself has helped with my cat’s hairball problems, I had bought a 50g tube to test but she still vomited up a massive hairball so maybe it was not tested for long enough time. I am moving on to try the other two brands on here to see if they make any difference. A problem with the smilla multi-vitamin / malt paste is that the oil seems to have been separated and therefore squeezes out a big oily mess at some point. I’d say maybe 20% is oily mess.

Great
I have a long haired Persian and this is great, not just for passing furballs but his coat is also great and he is less touchy about being groomed which he generally hates. A little pricey for a treat but it works
